COURSE STRUCTURE

  • The Royal College of Paediatrics states that the MRCPCH & DCH clinical examination follows an OSCE style format consisting of individual stations.
  • The Chelsea clinical course has produced 2 full circuits in the same format as you will have in the real exam.
  • Lunch will be provided in between Circuit 1 and 2.
  • You will be put into pairs – therefore there will only be 2 CANDIDATES  PER INSTRUCTOR.
  • Each candidate will complete 1 full circuit (10 stations) and observe 1 full circuit.
  • Circuit 1:
  • You will complete a full circuit under exam conditions, giving you a real feel for what the actual exam will be like.
  • After each clinical station you will receive 1 to 1 feedback on your performance by an experienced examiner.
  • You will be taught how to identify signs and present them well, in order to gain a clear pass for that station.
  • Circuit 2:
  • You will be taught how to get into the mind set of the examiner so you can understand what they are looking for and how candidates are marked.
  • This is an excellent opportunity to experience the examiners perspective
  • Please note:
  • There will be a completely different set of patients, equally interesting and challenging for each circuit.
  • Both candidates will have the opportunity to examine the pertinent signs of ALL the patients in BOTH circuits.
  • Clinical cases and patients have been chosen according to the current MRCPCH exam format.
  • MRCPCH course timetable (provisional, the exact timetable will be sent you nearer the course date):
